so im going thru my 86 350x and am having a "redo" so to say on a few issues since i have some time to mess with it lately...one thing is the choke not holding its high idle at mid position....but bigger is my axle has a good bit of slop in it even with good bearings.its so worn out i guess, the bearings arent a tight fit anymore. was thinking of taking to machine shop to have them weld, and lathe it down to the bearing size for a tighter fit..def cheaper than new axle and if i get another 5 years ill be happy with it.the carrier is fine believe it or not and they can powdercoat the axle while its there since its rusty as hell... any input on this?

as cheap as axles are on ebay.... I see no reason to heat up an old axle with weld and take a chance of it breaking!!!!! NONE....

Bad idea for sure. It will want to brake at the sprocket or brake disc.

Loctite 660 might work for this, I used it to install bearings in a very worn carrier.

hmmm i was wondering if the heat would end up affecting anything...a broken axle would def cause more damage than the price of a used one im guessin...
