i have a set of 1983 200e forks that are a little worn out. by this i mean they wiggle in the lower case. so i think the front fork guide and the distance collar that holds them snuggly in place are worn out maybe. but im not sure i do know they are made out of plastic. is this a common piece that goes bad in the forks causeing them to wiggle?

Yes, those are what wears out...you need to address it ASAP, or it will begin to eat into the chrome, if it hasn't done so already. It's a pretty poor design, and you constantly need to keep it greased since it's a dry shock system. I believe the bushings youre looking for are still available through Honda, however the distance collar is NLA, so be careful taking yours apart.

A little rust is ok, and steel wool will take care of it. What I mean by eat into the chrome is that the bushings will wear out and allow the lower foot to bind, and when you hit the bumps, the metal at the top will actually start rubbing your forks, putting a nice gouge into them and ruining them. Like a said, keep them greased, and get new bushings if needed...I had to search the end of the earth to find a front fork for that bike that was salvageable, and I still had to spend almost 200.00 to get them rechromed.
