SO I got the second gen swinger in the first gen bike sitting on the table. The mounting pioint on the second gen is def closer to the opivot then on the stock first gen. My question is does the added length of the second gen off set the mounting point of second gen swinger. Basically do I need to chop off themounting tab on the second gen and reweld it to where the first gen is or can I just leave it. I'm also runnin a 300 ex shock

Dan, yeah you will need to relocate the lower shock mounting area on the 86/87 swingers to match up on the 84/85 centered frame shock mounting area so it all lines up.
Seems to me that I only cut off one "tab" (or 1 side of the 86/87 swing arm shock mount) and moved it over a wee bit on my 84/85/86-87 half breed.
I also cut out a lot of the reinforcement that was built into the 86-87 T-3 swing arms but ended needing to re_gusset some what (tickled to death my old wriggled arse could crack professional alu welding :) )
I also extended my modified stock 86/87 swinger 4 more over too give me a total of 6 inch over stock 84/85 Tecate swing arm length ~ Tee totally happy with that over all length rather then the short + stubby 84/85 original
Need pictures ????

Also for a alternative to the 300EX shock (like what I have used in past, running a stocker for now )

Yamaha shock will most likely adorn my "Black" build >>> http://www.3wheeler.org/vb/showthread.php?50615-Happy-with-rear-Tecate-shock

After taking the pictures and remembering our conversation,,, I am more leaning towards thinking why I cut the left hand side tab off and welded closer. I believe it was to take up that "extra" space inbetween so no washers or spacers would be required.
Heck, it could be some other reason I suppose, it has been like 5 years ago I modified this 86/87 swinger (cut out a lot of alu + added some back in + extended 4 inchs). Perhaps I was under the impression that I had to do it that way ???
I see no reason why a spacer could not be used instead of cutting/welding the tab. I don't honestly think any welder fella is gonna beat the factory weld strength ( please don't turn this into a better metal burner thread guys).
If there are any different angle shots you may need just let me know Dan and it will happen.

AHHHHHH. You are using the fisrt gen dogbone which wont fit the mounting tab on the swinger. I'm using the adjustable swinger from the second gen so it fits the bottom fine and can be spaced with washers on the top. I'll get some pics up tomorrow of what I'm talking about

Who made those green slider??? And where are those green dog bone bolt covers? I didn't see them at TF??? I'm assuming you did?

That looks like a great alignment IMO ! I did have a adjustable dog bone on it at one time but at the length I wanted was at the very end of the adjustment with like only one thread each end left so I lengthened a stock one to my desired length

Yes, the uni-track caps and sliders are our products. The Mrs. owns those molds and I am very sure she don't have the Tecate green sliders made up (gonna be a few weeks before we order that particular material) but positive she has a set of the uni-track covers in that color in stock,,,

Drank more beers and realized that the suspension won't full cycle. The lower shock mount bolt hits the swinger with about an inch of travel left. . Could probably run it but it aint right and the only two other options are 2nd gen lower mounts or to cut the swinger. I'm going back to first gen stuff and gonnna use the money I get from the swinerg to buy a banshee shock and give that a whirl. Hopefully I'll have it in the mail to you this week ben
