Hi everybody, I need to find a trike for my wife. She started to show interest in trail riding said she maybe wanted a 4wheeler I said why not 3. She's fine with three but it's got to be a honda, electric start, no clutch, reverse, front&rear shocks, (an easy, comfy, clean, honda) something bigger than my 225dr. I'd love to see her on 3wheels and share my passion with her, but I have to find that perfect honda. I don't know alot about hondas but I have to find out because she is definately a honda girl! I was thinking maybe a 250sx, is there a honda trike that fits this description pretty good?

Dave,
The 250sx would be a very good match for your wife, Its fully suspended, electric start, auto clutch, shaft drive and goes pretty good. with just a few mods they make for real nice trail bikes. One mod that was done to mine before I bought it was a 200x front end. I loved my 250sx and kick myself every day for selling it. Good Luck shopping!!

Is there any other honda model similar to that or is this THE trike I got to find?

This is the one I built for my wife.... but I ride it more than she does :naughty:

86 250sx with a 350x front end- skinny front tire and a softer, more forgiving ride... I have about $600.00 invested.. most of that was the fenders

the only other bike that comes to mind would be a conversion bike: an auto X- a honda 200x frame with a 200m motor... the only thing is no reverse

Fooler is right, anything other than the 250sx is manual clutch, or doesnt have full suspension, or no reverse, or no elctric start. The SX is a very nice machine, and I would highly recomend either the 200x front end or the 350x front end. makes handling and ride worlds better. (not that its horrible with the stock front end, but why settle for less) happy hunting!! too bad your in canada because theres an 86 on craigslist in the syracuse area that the platic is rough but other than that looks to be a descent machine overall. I think he's askin around $650 for it.

i would agree...250sx all the way. very easy to ride and are very dependable machines. kick myself for getting rid of mine

1985-87 250ES Big Red also fits the description and might be easier to find. The SX and ES are very very similar.

Someone one here has converted a couple TRX250ex's to trikes too. Very nice looking. Toniesta Trikes or something like that.

About time somebody mentioned it. I was just about to.
Bigger in cc and size, elec start, reverse, fully suspended, great trail rider.

I know you want a trike for her, but what about a Honda Fourtrax 250EX? It's got everything she needs and the
Sport Clutch which she won't have to use, but is there for her to learn with....

Otherwise the 250SX is it.

Yes way too high, I've looked a little more and most are between 1000 & 1500 around here.

As mentioned, your 2 best choices are the sx or big red, or ( also mentioned ) Tionesta trikes will convert a Honda 250ex quad to a 3 wheeler. Good luck !

Update with pics!!

Thank you all for your suggestions, it took a long time but she finally chose a quad, I know this doesnt belong in trikesylvania but it started with a trike search.

I got my gf a trailblazer to start.. then taught her a clutch on my 86 200x, then to my 85 200x, then my 85 350x.. i even have her riding my 86 bigboreT3.. THEN I picked up a CLEAN 87 SX, she loves the ease of electric start, auto clutch and reverse.. she does still like me 350X the best (but only when she wants to ride a clutch trike)
if we're 2up she want to be on a T3, by herself the sx, BR or 350X.. im most comfortable w seeing her on the SX

Those polaris 500's run pretty good. I think she'll be happy. 3 or 4, who cares as long as she's riding with you? That's more important to me.
