Hey guys... looking for a little help with color match. Restoring an 85 200m for my dad.. joint effort with my brother.. he did all the frame work & I have then engine. I have a very nice semi gloss black powder coat for the pull cord side of the engine & starter... its almost an exact match to the Honda OEM paint....

I'm looking for suggestions on powder coat color for the clutch side engine cover - the only cover that is silver... any help is appreciated guys... Thanks!!

thanks for the response, but the side cover I have has been re-painted before, so that wont work.

Is it aluminum? I don't know much about the 200M engine but was that cover painted from te factory? If it's aluminum, I'd just bead blast it and call it done.

nope... the 200m's had the natural aluminum finish on the engine case halves, the clutch side spacer thing (dont know what its called exactly) cylinder jug, head, valve cover and cdi... the clutch cover was only part of the engine that was painted silver... the cdi cover was polished w/ light vertical brush strokes, and the starter/pull cord covers were semi gloss black...

I guess I'll do some 20 dollar trial error on the silver, thanks anyways guys....

I've seen a pretty damaged and aged clutch cover that had the finish peeling in places. I don't think it's actually silver paint but rather some sort of semi-gloss clear coat over the bare aluminum.

the powder coating shop will soda blase the cove rand re-coat it, so it does not matter if it was painted or not. but if nothign else then jsut get some semi-gloss black and paint it after sanding it smooth.
