A 3WW member sold me a stock muffler to replace the hack job that was on my '85 Tecate. When I got it, I found that the end of the pipe had been changed to fit the muffler they had on there. Today I'm taking it to a guy to have him weld the pipe back correctly. But never having seen it, I don't know how the pipes go together! Most of the mufflers I've done, one end is flared out with notches, and it goes over the other end and is then clamped. However, according to the parts diagram on the Tecate, there's a "Muffler Seal" No. 92093, that I should have ordered but I haven't yet. This piece looks like maybe it makes the interface between the pipe and muffler, and one does not actually go inside the other. Can someone set me straight on this?

The muffler seal 92093-1085 is a thick rubber tube and connects the pipe to the muffler. One side of the muffler seal has a larger ID than the other to match the pipe and muffler ODs if they're original.

I don't have a great picture of the spot but you can kinda see it in this one with 2 clamps:

Thank you guys. The guy I brought it to has it fixed already! I haven't seen it yet, so let's hope he set it up for the pipe to slide into the muffler.
