I've just put a 200x front end on my '84 200es. The top tripleclamp hits the standard tank with only a small amount of steering lock. Has anyone any experience with a alternate tank that may provide increased clearance. I'll mount the tank & submit some photos to show what I mean. Maybe an aftermarket plastic tank will provide the clearance, but I don't want to buy one without some advice, just in case it's no better than the standard one.

Doesn't the 200X have a different steering stop than the ES?? Mod the steering stop.....

^ yup! he needs to make one for the 200x steering assembly or it will bend the tank to no avail.

Problem is that the top tripleclamp hit the tank before I get sufficient steering lock

yes, because you have to make a new stop. the stops are different. the stops were there to keep the tripples or forks from kitting the frame/tank/ or anything else and damaging something.
