I wish i had somewhere to race oval track cause those 85 Tecate's look awsome when they are low like that. I may make my 85 T3 like one of these racers and put some 18inch turf tamers on the back to try it out. It would handle great on the long dirt roads and in the sand pit near home.
I can only imagine how well it would handle on pavement!

I've now changed my mind on how I want the Tecate to turn out like...1000 times!

Thanks Jeb for the pics and a look into the past.

All the flat track mods in the world still won't make it handle good on pavement!

These Kawasaki 125 racers that Wilby and Meadows rode, has anyone ever seen one up close, read a test on one or ridden one?? I have some old parts books that list pistons for Tecate KXT125's in the ATV piston sections. I asked this questions on the board a while back and the common answer was, "that I read the list wrong". I have only seen these racers in pics before and have always wondered if the motor was a special KXT "wide ratio" "sleeved down" "destroked" Tecate motor or if it was just an 84/85 KX125 motor. Any info.????????????

PLJ, I'm thinkin its the same era KX motocross bike converted into a Tecate 125 by adding the Tecate tripples, tire, and fabing a custom swinger.

Jeb, I'm still sayin a lowered, widened Tecate on 18 inch tires would slide and handle well on pavement, and not be so tippy. At least better than one on 22's

Your not alone PLJ. I also see pistons availible for KXT125s. Ive always wondered what they were for.

I believe those 125s had to be built around available 125cc MX bike motors so I believe what were looking at is a KX125 powered Tecate chassis. I think thats a KDX gas tank???

BigGreenMachine, I'll agree that a lower wider KXT would improve handling on pavement. What I'm saying is that ATVs are way out of their element on pavement and in MY OPINION especially when it comes to turning and conditions where sliding might be necessary, such as pitching it in a high speed corner. .

That KDX tank would look nice on the 85...different at least.

Meadows race bike (at least in 86) was a modified t3 frame with a kx125 motor in it. I have the article on it at home, and it tells how they modified the frame to fit the exhaust, etc.

LOL I know I do...the wife just got a top of the line epson scanner for christmas, and I built her a new fast computer rig too. Trouble is, can't get her off it and when she isn't on it, seems like I am either feeding a youngin, or changing pooper holders HAHAHAH. I am going to talk to Billy about it in chat in a day or two and see if he can post some of them. In the meantime, I will try and find that article this weekend and scan it for you. It is a pretty big article as I recall, and not a one page deal.

I got a over sized tank that came with me new tecate and it looks like the 125 racer tank
