atc 350x alternator

my trike has no light. i am getting 0.5 volt at the light at idle and 3 volt when i rev it up. the resistance on the alternator is 0.8 and the manual ask between 0.1 and 1.0 the resistance is good. i checked the voltage at the plug in and its the same as when i check it at the light plugin. is my alternator bad or could something else cause that problem?

Nope, the lighting coil is toast.

Actually.... The 350X is an AC lighting system but it has a regulator. Unplug the regulator, its in the back, set a voltmeter to AC and connect the leads to the plug that goes to the regulator. Start it up and run it, do you see any voltage now? If the voltage comes up then its the regulator, if there is still no voltage then its your alternator.
