I just went down to the DMV office here to register my ATC90, and a new option popped up on the computer... A permanent lifetime registration that NEVER expires. The year on the sticker is 9999, and expiration is Dec 31st 9999...

The sweetest part? $14.50.....

My 200ES cost me like $45.00 last year, now when that expires in two years i can renew with a lifetime collector reg on it also. I was told that they decided to do it with ATV's like they have been doing with Snowmobiles..

Friggin Awesome!

Come on guys now you have no excuse that it costs too much.

The only thing im worried about is what you'll do when we get to 10,000 AD. It's a honda, so im sure it will still be around.:D

We dont have to register!? haha.. State law says any class 1 vehicle over 25 years old does not need to be registered.

X2 with Cornholio.

It's always fun when DNR pulls you overs and you explain to them its over 25 years old so registration isn't mandatory. Then they don't believe you and have to take out the regulation book and walk away with their tail between their legs. Happened to me 2 time with the ATC70 out ice fishing.

Hmmm, good point on what to do after the 10,000 AD rollover, i guess my great great great great great.... Grandkids will have to fix that.

Jason - Its not every year, its three years for normal ATV registration. So after a couple more years my current reg on my 200ES expires and i can move into a permanent.

And yes, i know i know, over 25 its a collector and doesn't need to be registered. But as the law loves to point out the regs also say but it "can" be for unlimited use. Basically for public use you still have to register it. Some cops are more lax on this than others, down in this neck of the woods you can argue the reg book all you want, but if you are on public property, aka not your own land, then it needs registration. Its all there in the regs, its just not worded clearly enough in my opinion, as it says for unlimited use, but they don't state whats not allowed if you don't. Basically if you dont you cant ride on public lands.

Ok, so back to why i do it? $14.50 plus a $20 city permit and i can ride it any damn place i please... They won't give you a city permit unless you register it, so now it just got even cheaper, before it was $45 for the registration to get to the point that i could apply for the city permit.

I can ride it downtown, park it right on mainstreet, and nobody can say a thing. I have one picture with my 200ES parked between two squad cars... SO FUNNY.. I can't post it though sorry.

I heard that a few other states up here are following this... They have been doing like MN for a while now when it comes to permanent reg on older snowmobiles, and now they are starting to do it for ATV's...

LOL... Another good point there, its now officially YOURS, its in the system.

I hear all the time about guys getting trikes stolen and they don't have any papers on it to give to the cops because they never registered. At least now you can hand them the registration and say its mine.

Think I have a few pieces that I'll go "get in my name". $14.50 is worth it just as an insurance policy if they are ever stolen. Least the LEOs will know who it belongs to, if found.
