I have to get rid of these trailpros on my 250r, what do you guys like/prefer. At first i was thinking about holeshots but i heard they suck in sand. my main riding conditions will be in like grass and dirt with the occasion trip to Seddons Corner which is all sand. im looking for tires that have good traction in all these terrains. im looking at kenda kutters xc. what do you guys think?

If you want the best traction possible on loose terrain, the kenda are not the best choice because the rubber is very tough. People who ride on hard surface run the kenda because they don't wear as quick as other tire. But they are very good tire. I you want to stay with Kenda, is would choose the Klaw XC.

The Klaw XC is cool, I'll agree.

But that being said, none of these treads is so different from the Holeshots..and who says they aren't any good in sand?

I personally think that tread design is pretty decent all around..sand included. They throw a mean tail in the air!

I think you'd be fine with any of these.

I like the stock knobbies (I have Dunlop on the R, Ohtsu on the X - same tire) but I think they're discontinued. I've run them on the trails and in the sand. Great all around tires.

Ohtsu on the left no air. Dunlop on the right aired up. Both 20x10x9. Tires are identical except for the name on them.

TRX450R stockers could be a good alternative.

Also heard good things about these:

I have 20x11x10 Shredders on my Tecate. So far, they're not my favorite but I'm not sure if it's me or the Tecate or what.

I have ran Holeshots before on pretty much every terrain imaginable and they were great! I am running Armstrong Turf Tamers on my 250r and they are performing great but I haven't take them on sand yet. It is almost time for me to replace them and I am thinking about trying the Maxxis Razrs next.

Hello Auto Demon

I have to get rid of these trailpros on my 250r, what do you guys like/prefer.

Don’t you like them, they are still available?

If you don’t like them what is it you don’t like?

They are 2” larger and 1 inch larger than original tires. Do you want to stay with this size.

At first i was thinking about holeshots but i heard they suck in sand.

The Holeshot’s you are referring to are ONLY the XCR’s not the HD’s or GNCC’s. Look at the obvious difference in treads including tread height.

I have my main riding conditions will be in like grass and dirt with the occasion trip to Seddons Corner which is all sand. im looking for tires that have good traction in all these terrains.

There is no such thing, you have to pick one as your main terrain that you want them to work in. See info below.

QUOTE=Auto_Demon;1238157]im looking at kenda kutters xc. what do you guys think?

For me it depends on your answers to the questions.

Since tires are not cheap I suggest you determine which of the following items listed below are the most important to you before you decide. Some have a round profile, some have a flat one, some give a soft ride like your 2 ply Carlisle’s, some give a firm one, some are good for sliding, some will try to grab and try to tip high side the bike along with you on it, lol.
GRASS RIDING – No tire works well on grass, this is like asking which tire works best on ice, the answer is none, lol. A tire must dig thru the grass to the dirt below to get the best traction, some are MUCH better at this than others.

BEST TIRES FOR YOUR PURPOSE

There is a list below with photos in each link, check out the tread patterns. The Polaris and the Holeshot HD and GNC’S are all pretty aggressive with good straight line traction for sand, grass, loam and rough ground etc.

What type of terrain do you most want them to work best in?

a. mud
b rock hard packed dirt.
c. loamy dirt.
c. sand

Riding style

a. Sitting straight up
b. Full lock slide like Jimmie White.
c. In between

Riding speed

a. fast
b. slow

RIDING COMFORT

a. Soft
b. Firm.

I am running Stock 450r Dunlop radials on the back of both of my R's and like them alot.

ITP Holeshots, (pretty much any model)

Maxxis Razrs...

Hard to go wrong with any of those...

Stock 400ex/300ex/450r tires are the cats meow. For trail riding they are wicked! Nice cushy ride, wear like iron and pretty cheap too. I picked up a set of 450r tires on stock rims for 40 bones

Well im probably going to get 20's, my friend and i put on some chinese knock off holshots on my 250r and they are 21x10x8 and i put on 1 inch wheel spacer and i like the look of it, so ill probably get 20x11x9 and put them on the stock rims with the wheel spacers

You will be amazed at how much better your trike will handle with a wider rear! I have two inch spacers on mine and it makes riding so much more fun. I also like the stock tires that come on the 400ex as well as the ones that come on the KFX /DVX and Z400. They are a good bang for the buck tire.

You raise a good point... The z400's and their Arctic Cat and Kawi sisters come with the same rear tires the earlier 450r's did.

I find them to be a really good all-round tire.

But I need more traction on my big bore. Want to try some Holeshot HD's!

Holeshot HD's are nice but weigh about twice as much. Super durable tire.

Holeshot XCR's are a great tire for grabbing and sliding and weigh half as much.

I like the 20" XCR's myself, Turf Tamer 18"s for moto.......
