My left side rear hub is smoked. The splines on the axle are still good. What I was wondering, since I can't find one on ebay but I see a few of the right side, can I just put another right side on there? The part #'s are only off by one number. The only thing I know is different is the two screw holes on the brake side.
Has anyone ever welded the striped out hub on and then slid the axle in...? would that work? Just trying to get ideas. It's kinda depressing not being able to find parts :(

I wouldnt recommend welding it but IF you do just do a few tacs and make sure you will be able to grind them off if you want to take it off. Nothing more annoying then people welding hubs on.

Don't weld it. Fix it right. The left hub is also shared with the SX left hub as is the right (85 only) so broaden your search to SX hubs.

I wont. I just got discouraged when I did a search here and found a lot of the 85's left hubs were stripping. I did broaden it to sx but still nothing on ebay but Howdy might have one.

Don't weld..please don't weld.
I know it frustrating having trike down time..check with Cory (PS2Fixer), he's got a ton of parts ES/SX trikes...
I bet you he's got what you want and can get it to you quickly..just PM him and be patient!!
Then thank Honda for the forethought to make the hub of a slightly softer grade of steel than the axle..amazing how many have this happen and the axle is still good. This must be the reason for it!

Good axle splines = DO NOT WELD!!!! The axles are getting harder to find in good condition.
