How to adjust air/fuel mixture screw

I've hot a 83 honda atc200 and i was wondering how to set the screw up on it?...Do i have to take it out then put it in or what?

From the factory I believe the manual says it should be 2 1/4 turns out. Basically turn the screw all the way in and back it out 2 1/4 turns. I've got mine set at 2 1/2 turns where it seems to be the best.
