This setup was on a 86T3 project I purchased last year. It has a very small flywheel and magnets surrounded buy the electrics. I know it has no lighting coil (no yellow wire) but it must not have any exiter coil either (no white/red wire). The only two wires are a blue and a black. Needless to say I have no spark and don't even know how it is supposed to produce any spark. It doesn't look like there are any broken off wires so whats up with this thing?

the coil and cdi are one unit. The blue wire powers it the black wire kills it.

Do you know the advantage to running this setup? Does it eliminate a weak link or hotter setup or what?. I cant really imagine it being a good advantage but I really don't know....let me know what ya think

it doesnt fail like the oem, It will be lighter so engine will rev faster and higher but you lose torque cause of less flywheel weight

So if the blue and black wire go to the cdi/coil unit I will have to search for one of those. Does anyone know where to find one or who makes these units? Do they look like a coil or a cdi unit? Thanks much for the help so far..
