Alright. I decided its time to start re doing the 1977 atc 90 i got. I have $350 into it so far and its pretty solid so i have no problem putting a couple bucks here and there. Motor runs fine, But here's my question, I wanna possibly do a rebuild before it blows so i don't gotta deal with a blown motor. Could i just put a new piston, rings, bearing, pin, and c clips in and get away without a hone or bore? Or should i just get it honed while its apart? Ive only rebuilt 2 strokes before so i don't have very much knowledge with these complex (compared to 2 stroke) motors ha ha. I do notice it blowing some smoke here and there that's why i figure i should rebuild it. If i do that will a stock motor accept a bigger cam? Or will it do anything? what other parts can i put into this on a stock frame? I might go for an aftermarket frame later but i wanna see what i can do keeping the frame stock. This is what i was thinking. Im buying new tires: (http://www.rockymountainatvmc.com/p/50/81/165/1081/-/17500/Duro-Knobby-ATV-Tire) there actually smaller than they look, my friend has them and there pretty nice. So with those tires my idea was, new rebuild stock bore, aftermarket cam, bigger carb (if that would even help), one of those Bapp intakes or something, Supertrapp pipe. Aftermarket chain tensioner, and anything else someone can tell me about. If i could do a big bore relatively cheap i would consider but idk if it would be practical on a stock frame.
