I have been building this tri-z for a few months now. I am just about done with it. I gotta put the motor in today. Run the lines, bleed the brakes. Exhaust. Etc. I am very pleased with how its coming out. The stance is mean! Its an 86, but I wanted black plastics, and I wanted a 5 speed. So it is really a 2013. I have the original # matching 86 motor for it. So some day I might take the 85 frame that matches the motor in my build, and swap it. I originally wanted a 6 speed, but realized I didnt like it as much as the 5 speed.

Great build that Z is looking awesome. What are the details on that swing arm it looks real nice.
I am very curious as to why you like the 5 speed more than the 6 speed. I have herd a number of members on here say the same thing.
With my Z going from the 5 to the 6 speed was the best improvement I made. For example when drag racing my buddies built 660 raptor he would consistently beat me by 5-6 bike lengths with the 5 speed. I installed the 6 speed and I now beat him by 5-6 bike lengths. Night and day difference they are both the most smooth shifting transmissions I have ever ridden.

The swingarm is a Sprock/Metaltech arm. Plus 2. With all banshee rear components.
I don't have a real good reason for liking the 5 speed more. The 6 speed motor I have was already on a running z when I started the build, so I started building a 5 speed I had lying around. I am just used to the 5 speed more I think. I ride trails a lot, and I hear people saying the 6 speed is great for trails, but I don't like shifting more... the 6 speed I have is a radically top end ported motor, and it just doesn't have the low end I need. But with a different cylinder I might like it more.

Love that swing arm, what's the price on one of them?

I think about $500. Need the carrier, banshee brake hub, banshee rear brake, brake stay, but rest is tri-z.

I got the motor in the frame. I still need to get the motor mounts in. Got the brakes all on and bled. My big pegs. Im using all oem plastics. They arent perfect, but this z is going to be ridden. I dont care about my plastics being perfect. I could make it a show bike and win awards at bike shows, but thats not my intention.

This is the nicest set of z rads I have come across. I've been saving them for the right build. I will be pretty upset if a stick or rock kicks up at them. They are perfect.

The z is pretty much done. It runs great. 39mm pwk. V force 3 reeds. Cool head with a modified pump gas dome. works rear shock. Metaltech plus 2 swingarm with banshee rear end. 2 plus 2 durablue axle. Dynoport pipe. Billet rotor and sprocket hubs. ASV levers on pro taper cr high bend bars. I rebuilt the whole motor.
There are a few things I am going to change. I have white plastics I am refurbishing, and a red airbox cover and headlight. Red shrouds. And a red seat cover. I still need to put my grips on too.
It is all tuned up and ready to ride. It screams.

Thanks! I appreciate the responses. I did everything myself. All the blasting, paint, rebuilt the motor,
I did have the frame, swingarm, and pegs powdercoated though. I couldnt do it without the help from alot of people here. You guys know who you are. I really like the look of the black plastics and red shrouds. Looks so mean. The stance is so mean too. I retarded the timing, and it is very easy to start.
It feels like it is jetted spot on too, first shot. 52 pilot, and 168 main. CEL needle. Its a pwk from a Polaris sled. (thanks to ZMPolaristech)

Ya. I like the metaltech swinger a lot. It's nice having the round carrier to adjust the chain too. Makes life a lot easier. I mean.... There aren't many options for a tri-z swingarm. I would buy another. The welds are all very nice. Everything lined up perfect...
I am going to get braided brake lines, and my rear brake stay has a little play in it. So I am making a bushing that is more snug. I guess they all will have some play.
