Are the brake calipers the same between the 82 250R and the 83 -84 model. Has anyone played with this any?

Hmm, it switch sides with the sprocket at some point. Try a Goggle search with Three Wheeler World if you don't get your answer here.

You may want to join and try Airfoolers.com as well.

So many calipers fit our trikes either bolt on or with simple mods.

Please share your results here at 3WW.com. Good luck!

I guess I am going to have to answer the question myself? I have an 83 brake set coming so I will measure it up..

yup. fronts are the same from 81-84 and rears are the same 82-84. front calipers can be used on the rear, if the rear mounting plate is used. this is handy if you end up with a couple extra front calipers and a blown rear caliper

81-84 250r calipers the same...its the same as 83-87 200x also. There needs to be a sticky on this info becaure I'm tired or repeating it all the time.

rebuild kits are the same as trx250x-300ex and 400ex front calipers.

I agree with oldskool, a sticky with brake caliper swaps and calipers that will work from different manufacturers and models would be awesome.

all that stuff is available on air foolers. lots of info about interchangeable parts and parts that will swap in with no mods

Look this is what we need, and ive said it years ago. You need subcatagories for each model. IDK what ya'll say this is what needs do to be done. Then joeblow mr new atc member logs in and see theres a 200x catagories, they then thinks oh sweet ill look at my bike since I dont have a 250r. Oh yippy skippy it says 81-84 front calipers lines and master cylinders are the same...heck now i dont need to spend $150.00 on a working caliper on ebay from a 200x because and 83 250R caliper on ebay is buy it now for $35 working. sweet these guys know alot.

see what i mean.

make it happen, if not this sites just pushing another 30 years of the same info around. to get burried per 30 days. No one searches, they just ask. Buy some parts see if stuff works. half the time members own multiple machines but yet do not see if part may swap. No on needs to be smart to take a measurement, see if somthing works. If you like a specific model you will learn things over time and know it inside and out.

And I said it years before you did. It never came to fruition......

Heck, I've been here awhile and I DO search. Sometimes you have to sift thru so many threads to find the info you are looking for it gets frustrating, and I can see why some new guys give up and ask. I have bookmarked the threads I searched for and found the info I wanted so I still have most of it when I need it.
I have no idea what a logistical nightmare it would be to set up such a system, but once it was started members could suggest threads to add to the section pertaining to the info they found? maybe?

i rarely use the search because I can't find anything half the time.

You have better luck using Google or Bing with "3WW 82 250R caliper swaps" and changing the words around until you find the results.

Hey, sometimes I'm bored as hell so I don't mind answering again. And I try not to answer unless I am 99% sure.

I screwed up a few weeks ago when a member asked if a 86/87 200X fork cap would swap with an 83/84/85. They are both 33mm's OD forks, but Honda (always striving for perfection) changed the thread pitch. I did tell him to wait for others to chime in but in the end I was wrong and I felt badly. Lots of guys can't toss money around "Hoping" parts fit......... All I knew was the upper fork tubes OD was the same, but 83-85 was steel and 86/87 were aluminum.

Thats same guy would of been better just buying my front end I was selling but he decided he just wanted the caps. 83-85 1st gen 200x forks bolt on to everything on the 2nd gen 200x. Problem is people get pussyitious and scares them to put something from a different bike on thers. lord knows only a hand few would want my 200x, cuz theres nothing really 200x left lol.

I do searches first , then if I cannot find what I want then I just ask. Time is the problem. The older I get the the more things life throws at me. Daughters into horses, sons into baseball. We have a place with lots of grass to mow. just adds up to not much free time....
