Went for a spin on the X today, did a little mud (got to keep it clean) and went through all my woods. Figured I'd post some pics Up. Enjoy! Does anything seem out of place to anyone? Im not amatuer to this thing but I do miss stuff from time to time... Any stuff that needs replaced? A top end rebuild and rebore is already on the list. Just let me know what you see. I think yaegerb may be a big help on this thread
Sorry about the poor quality my sister lost the card to my camera and i had to use the camcorder

im planning on getting the tank powdercoated white, i was quoted $65 by a company that my dad uses for his work. seat is going to get a new cover (cracked, as you can see in the pic because i sat on it in the winter when it was COLD and it was really fragile) and possibly a powdercoat on the swinger (see if i can get it in honda red or pure white) and the engine needs taken out so i can my dad and I can do some work to it

if you want some ideas follow my build. HRE 200x. your rear fenders look nice yet. Id honestly take them off polish them up and keep them around until your 30. They would be worth bank.. As far as tanks id sell the stock ones, save for a plastic one. makes life simpler. maybe at some flat stype 20's on the back for a more enjoyable ride and call it a day. 200x's get expensive really fast when doing them up some. Theres about 4 grand in my build, but then again nothing is 200x hardly and its all 1 of a kind.

^ He's 15, HRE isn't an option now......

Looks fine but your head-pipe seems to swing out pretty far or the picture is misleading.

Enjoy!!!!!

Yeah dirtcrashers got a point, I dont have thousands of bucks to throw around. I never did like plastic tanks, i am going to stick with this one. i have stickers for everything. a $65 paint job on the tank to make it look new sure beats a $200 clarke tank IMO. The only good thing bout plastic tanks is that it wont get dented. a seat cover cant be that expensive... and my dad and I will do all the engine work ourselves. were pretty handy with that kind of stuff. the OEM tires i have now are really comfy, they are super soft and absorb pretty much anything. The bike runs great, the work we would do would be for more of a appearance thing

Are those the original tires? They look like their original

The front is original, but the backs arent. the rear originals had really bad dry rot, and I replaced them with ohtsu's PV301, which is the same tire as the OEM's but a slightly updated pattern. $50 apiece from my local shop

Gotta love them 200x's.

$65 to powder coat the tank is a good price. Not bad.

How's the inside of the tank though? Metal tanks can get pretty nasty.

Looks good to me. Obviously I can't diagnose much through pictures but it looks like a sturdy platform to build on. One thing I did notice is your left fork boot is torn. Most guys could give a crap less, but for some reason I like to have fork boots in good working order on my bike to protect the seals from mud, water, etc. OEM boots for that bike will be difficult to find, but keep on the lookout for a set through ebay, craigslist, etc.

Can't wait to see it with a new powdercoated tank and a rebuilt motor.

There are plenty of sets on eBay, I dont think theyre OEM, ill check my honda shop in case theres somehow a set. Plus i have to take the whole forks apart to replace them.i might as well get progressive springs if im going to do that. The rust spots on the outside of the tank bothers me a lot, the inside of the tank is perfect btw

not saying that bkm doesnt do a good job, but i kinda want to keep it local. the place im taking it to does a great job as well, and id rather just send it there.

I was looking at your signature...
that's cool you had 2 200x's when you were around 2 years old ?? :)

I don't think I can remember when I was 2.. you have a great memory

Yeah its really faint, but I think that it was 01 or 02. My only memories are my dad doing wheelies with me on the back, and me being scared that i was going to fall off, and i always remember seeing one of the X's near the side of our house. When they got stolen, the one had 3 flat tires and we figure that 2-3 guys picked it up at night, put it back of their trailer, along with the other X, and they were gone. We dont live in a bad area, but its in the country so theres less chance that people are going to get caught.

Finally got around to buying a new card for the REAL camera. These pics are much better than the ones I had. I actually had to make them SMALLER so that photobucket wouldnt crash

On this last picture here, just wondering if this is a sign that I'm burning oil, cause everthing around the exhaust is soot black

Black soot is normal maybe a little rich. Your spark plug would be a better indicator of that. If it is burning oil the exhaust would be wet and it would have blue smoke like a 2-stroker.

I just bought a squashed rod powroll stroker off of eBay, should be here next week. If the other people bidding were members, sorry!
Im going on vacation for 3 weeks later this month so im going to do a build thread when i get back. dont expect it to be a top of the line, NOS part-filled, museum worthy build, but im building a trail machine. ANY knowledge of what else I should do while i have it apart is appreciated and encouraged! Im already ordering a new timing chain, gaskets, other thing, and probably a piston too if my stock one wont work (please inform me if it will/wont!)
