83 or 84 yamaha 200 help

ok it doesn't have 1st or 2nd gear, you have to start in 3rd which sucks ass, so other the the shifting forks what could it be and how hard is it to fix, is there a shifting fork for every gear?????i'm thinking it's the shifting forks or fork, but if not that what else??

The Yamaha 200 and 225 uses two shift forks so it could be one of those or the gears themself. I have had to replace a shift fork on a 200 that I used to have and I know someone who had a 200 that "lost first gear", he said that it would not move at all in first but was fine in the others. I endend up getting the trike from him and taking the trans. apart, it turnned out that 1st gear had a broken tooth. The only real way to see your problem is to take it apart. Good luck.

Ya, I would say that if you can't get it into gear, you are probably looking at either a bent shift fork or bent shift shaft. Good luck.
