sputtering 200x - why???

have an 83 200x. complete motor rebuild (by honda shop), clean carb, stock jetting/pipe, new filter/plug, fresh gas. problem is bike sputters. starts fine, idles fine, revs out fine, but at steady throttle (1/4, 1/2, 3/4, full) and under load it sputters. seems to worsen as bike gets hotter. any info appreciated.

hey mate check the green earth wire coming out from the cdi box thing well i think thats wat it is .its opposite the coil anyways.we had the exact same prob with my bros 83 200x it would idle perfect but it would splutter and miss through all gears we did everything we could think of but just couldnt work it out but all it ended up being was that earth wire was loose on the frame.i hope trailprotrailpro prob is as simple as ours was later wink

My 200 is doin the same thing...does that mean i need a new coil?(my trike is not a x,it is a plain 200)

could be alot of things...coil, cdi jetting, those are a few...in the cdi, the gap could be too much causing it not to make contact. (the cdi on the motor) just an idea
