I finally got my '82 185S together and decided to blow off some steam today (really crappy day at work). It's amazing what riding for a few hours will do for your mood. I stopped on top of a hill to take a break and shot this pic.

I agree. When I'm having a bad day I go right for my 250es and go tool around in the woods.

Yea that's the way to blow off steam. I don't have trails close to my house so I can't just hop on a atv and go for ride, but I can hop on my dr650 and run the dirt roads and blow off the stress of work. It's close to the samething, but nothing compares to a trike ride in the evening. And that is a very nice 185 you have there.

Frederic, thank you for reminding me how I can blow off a little steam ~ I do believe I will do a couple of laps around the yard-neighbor hood before I go to work just because like you, I can.

And that is a darn nice looking 185 you got there. Mine served me well and I will never forget it

Very nice.

Most mere mortals will not understand that even a few minutes
ride will change the whole world outlook.
GF is frequently stressed, busy, in a hurry etc and I MAKE her ride
before she leaves.
No matter what's going on, there's always a smile on her face around 3rd gear.

Same with guitars. 20-30 seconds is almost enough to reconnect the left and right sides of the brain.

Good thinkin'.

Thanks for the compliments, guys. It took a solid two months of acquiring parts from all over the netherweb to put this little gem back together. When I got her, she was a total basket case, mainly a frame, wheels and rear plastics.

Now that she's done, I had to get another (and so begins the insanity). A buddy of mine gave me this for free:

169963

It needs a carb and the bottom end needs new crank bearings. Another member was kind enough to hook me up with someone who has what I need.

I find working on my trikes just about as much of a stress reducer as riding. Although the odd time I can't get some 30 year rusty part removed, my blood pressure will rise.

Nothing Kroil, a BFH, Sawzall and a cutting torch can't handle!

I got in almost 4 hours of riding today. I'm certainly not stressed :)

Awesome looking trike. I love my 185...it's not near as nice as yours

That is indeed a very nice 185. And what Kawi is that you just got for free? Is that a KLT185?

The guy who gave it to me thought it was, but it's a KLT160. His mother bought it new in '85, the year she passed away. My buddy's nephew ragged the hell out of it, which is why the bottom end bearings are toast.

Should be a fun project.

I generally jump on and go for a ride when i'm getting annoyed, even if its just down to the local gas station to get a candy bar... Hey trikes and chocolate can do a lot for stress!! LOL

is BFH short for Bud F'n Heavy? because, if not, you left out wrench oil, which is a must!

Guess some of us are lucky that way. I have 8 acres which attaches to crown land behind my property and I've made several trails with my Kubota tractor. My land also attaches to another neighbors who has almost 200 acres of prime land and we help him maintain the trails with our machines in exchange for being able to access them. We have lots of folks around the neighborhood that use them as walking trails for their dogs and such. Hard to believe we all get along so well, although my 250r raises the odd eyebrow, but I don't use it out there too often and you really can't go nuts on these trails so sometimes it's nice to load up the machines and go for some "real" riding where you can really open them up. But for the odd "put" around it's great!

All this and we are in city limits. Really nice to come home and just be able to hop on the machine and go for a daily ride. Something my Big Red excels at and I can't wait until my 200x is up for it as well, I think that will be the ultimate little trail machine!!! :)

Photos of the typical of the trails I've made on my property.

While I really like the 185S and the KLT160, I would love to have a 250R.
