I just purchased a 1985 350X in great condition from the original owner and I have a few questions that I would like some input on. What type and weight oil do you guys run and what are some opinions on rear tires type/sizes on these. It has the original back tires and I will be replacing them. I can't wait to ride this baby Sunday!!! :D

id run a set of 20 or 18 inch tires on it the flat kind not those dorky baloon ones i think they are worth less on trikes they grab too much and alot of rolling a 3 wheeler comes from them if you have the cash get your self a set of ITP holeshots cant go rong with them

I use hp 4 I think is 10-40 another cheaper oil I use is torco T-4m I use that in the SX and 200x make sure you change the filter. and when you pick it up see if he has ever changed it. there's a few people out there that did'nt know the 350x has an oil filter. As for trail riding and good hookup kenda klaws work great get some 10 inch wheels and 20 inch tires. Your going to love the 350x!

whiteman,
I live about 30 minutes Northeast of Columbus in Talbot Co., Ga. . I ride mx also and some friends and myself have our own mx track leased. It is mainly sand and I think it will be alot of fun on it. Let me know when you will be in the area and you can come over and ride with us.

What about 20w 50 versus 10w 40 and is Honda Oil any better?

the 350x service manual says that 20w 50 is ok if it doesn't get below freezing, but 10w 40 is good to about 10 degrees. if it gets colder than that, it recommends 5w 30, but not if its above 50 degrees. 20w 50 has a better high heat resistance.

MTRDUD, I am also right down the road. I live in Montgomery and me and whiteman have been down to dirty dog which I am sure you have heard of which is a ATV/4wd riding area that is pretty nice in Phoenix city. Whiteman let me know when you guys are going to hook up and ride and I will try to get off work to tag along if you don't mind MTRDUD. I have been working alot here lately and it's been a little chilly out but we do need to get together and ride soon.

I'll get with you guys soon and we'll try to hook up and ride. The weather and my schedule have not been the best lately, but maybe sometime in the near future we can get together. As I said earlier, some buddies and myself have a track leased that is over a mile and is set up for motocross with some fairly good jumps and some great bowl turns. It is mainly sand with some red clay which should be a lot of fun un the three-wheeler. The last time I was at Dirty Dog in Phenix City, the MX track was partially dismantled so I don't know the future plans for that track.

for the trails run 20s but if you are going to be running top end the stock 22s are great. The faster you go the more they ballon up and in turn the faster the bike goes. One of my Xs has 20s and the other has 22s. The one with 22s has a 36 tooth rear sprocket and will top out near 70mph, but the one with 20s will only hit around 60mph. You will fall in love your X, its a great bike, and so much fun to ride

MTRDUD, yeah they were doing alot of work to that MX track, we didn't even get to ride up there. I though it was a nice riding area and for only $10 it's not that bad. They said they were putting up lights on the MX track so they could ride at night. Should be close to finish by now, we should try to go by the middle of January.

I didn't know about the lights. That would be great to have a place to ride at night especially in the summer when it gets really hot and humid. I did hear a new ad on the radio today for the facility that said they had renovated. I can find out at Extreme Power Sports in Columbus.
