Another $500 Tecate!

Can anyone tell me what year this thing is and some common problems to look for? I don't know crap about the Tecate's and am only interested cause I think I can get it for almost half the price listed. It looks pretty rough but fairly complete. I just don't need another project at this time. lol

Can't get plastics for them cheaply or easily like a Honda.

"Cleaning" the stator likely won't help. They go bad. Worst case, the flywheel came apart and tore some stuff up.

Pipe? Air filter or air box? Does it come with the bad engine, too?

Hard to spend $500 on it but if I could get it locally for $250, I'd be on my way over with the van and cash for at least a look.

it's an 85. I think it's a little much at 5 but if you can get it for half that it's probably not a bad buy. Not cheap like a honda to fix though.

It looks a little worse off than my first one when I bought it...And I paid 5 bills for it. But......I drove from Seattle area to Libbey MT to get it...

Although a part of me is dying to restore this machine, I am gonna go with my better judgment and pass I would rather buy one in better shape for $1000 or so, cause it would take a a couple thousand dollars to get it near the condition of my 250r, which I am not done with yet and another project would just slow progress. A couple 350x's keep popping up in really good condition and I need a thumper bad for some of the trails here, so that is what my next purchase is gonna be but the prices for the X's are a little high though compared to R's.
