So, what is the concensus here? Yay or Nay on the all white theme? I don't know if I am gonna ditch the blue fork boots and seat cover for red or black though. I was originally gonna do a red, white and black theme to match the dirt car but I would hate to risk ruining the original seat cover. Thoughts or suggestions? Thanks!

Maybe you can sell/trade the seat to someone with a good seat pan/foam and a bad cover?

Thanks! I was originally gonna go back with red but after some deliberations, I decided to go the unoriginal route! I am really glad that I went this route now but I have ran into one big problem though. I am too picky now, any little dirt I get on the fenders is instantly washed off! lol

I think the white and blue with black wheels looks great the way it is!

I'm on a white kick right now so I love it. I think my next project will have white plastic. Is the Clark tank stock sized or oversized?

Thanks guys! The tank is the same capacity as a stocker, it is not a perfect match with the fenders but you have to be nitpicking to really notice. It also didn't bolt on as easy as a factory one but it does work. I don't know how long this tank has sat on a shelf but it has been collecting dust for a long time, judging by how the lettering on the plastic looked.

Thanks guys! Decals are next and after a bunch of thinking, I am gonna keep this color scheme. So, I am probably gonna do either red or blue decals.

I do too! It won't be much, just Honda wings on the shrouds and maybe something 250r on the rear fenders.

Thanks guys! The blue is staying. I do have one more question. I have read somewhere that leaving gas stored in the tank will discolor the white. Is that true or false?

Eventually yes (see photo). Pre-mix doesn't keep well anyway, so drain it any time you plan to park it for over 3 weeks and it should look nice for a while.

I was planning on dumping the gas after every ride to prevent any discoloration and a tank of gas rarely lasts three weeks!

I can't remember what the 87's looked like, so I gotta go refresh my memory.

Nice lookin machine, I'd go with black decals nothin to bulky that'd take away from the clean white look. You could always epoxy seal the inside of the tank and that would take away all the worry of the tank changing on you. I sealed the inside of my ST tank in one evening and let it sit for a day or two and it was ready to go again. You'd also be able to put decals on the tank too.

That is an interesting idea that I have never heard of before. Any specific brand?

Perfect balance of shades.
Perfect the way it is but I also love old black and white movies because of the
simplicity.
I used to wear plain white t shirts at grateful dead concerts and got more compliments than when I wore tye dye.

If it happens to get dirty, it would look even more magical.
If it were mine? I'd leave it juuuust the way it is, only
a few splashes of clay/mud accents.

Nice freakin' job.
Try not to mess with success.
Just my .02c

Thanks! I'm sure it will get dusty tomorrow on my ride but no mud! lol

The gas will turn the tank yellow. However, I think there are a few factors. Any of the bikes with yellow tanks have something strange going on where the lip of the seat meets the tank. There its usually still bright white. So I think its more than just gas. Its the combination of gas plus UV light.

So if you drain the gas after you put it up and leave it out of the sun it should be fine. I you can ride it in the sun just don't leave it outside in the blazing sun for weeks.

Def. if you store gas in it for long periods indoor or out it will turn yellow.

Some folks have sealed them on the inside as well. Something you could think about.

Caswell Plating Epoxy Tank Sealer, stuffs awesome. Has great directions and comes in 3 different colors if i remember clear, red and blue. Just had to plug up the hole for the petcock I made a block off plate and used an o-ring and a zip lock bag for the gas filler neck pulled tight and a rubber band pull it tight so you can still see through to make sure everythings coating nicely. Clean the inside of the tank with acetone (always do a test spot before you go all out on plastic) and let it dry thoroughly. Mix the two part epoxy really good then pour it in and swill it around. The directions do a better job at explaining it and theres some pretty good Q&A's on the caswell web site about it.

I wonder if paint would hold up and not bubble if you seal the inside first?

Does this have to be done before ever adding gas? I used some the other day to rinse out a few pieces of plastic that was left behind when the tank was made but other then that, it hasn't had any gas inside for a length of time.

Nope you just have to rinse with acetone it'll remove all the fuel oil residue. one of the steps is to put a hand full of drywall screws in the tank and shake it around to scuff up the inside of the tank so the epoxy adheres to the tank walls. I did that and used the garden hose to rinse out a majority of the crap and then dried most of the water with the air hose. After that i rinsed with acetone a few more times then started on to the epoxy. I warmed the epoxy a bit with the space heater because it was back in feb. or march when i sealed it. With about half of the epoxy in the kit i was able to seal my tank and still poured quite a bit out. I did have to baby it a bit and make sure it was coated fairly well i spent quite a while just trying to get it coated on the lower rear tank mount horns but finely prevailed. As it started to set up it got really sticky and would start to drip and make strings of epoxy hang all over but i just kept rollin it around to get it cleared up.
