1980 dirtwheels magazine

I have a December 1980 Dirtwheels, does anyone know what year Dirtwheels magazine started? By the looks of the cover, I thought this might be the first one, but I'm not sure.

The current June issue is volume 33, issue 6. That would lead me to believe January 1980 was the first issue
