I just picked up another 84 Honda Big Red 200ES. I got it from the original owner who bought it new in 84, also it came with the Title. :w00t:

When I looked at the couple pictures the ad had posted, I noticed what I thought was a Speedometer on it from a side shot. I have now found it to be a Hondaline Trip Meter instead. I was wondering 1 of 2 things. The first being, how desirable are they, and can they just be swapped out with a speedometer which I would rather have on it. (I don't know how the mounting bracket looks or if it's the same for either meter)

If I decide to, can I just buy a speedometer or maybe trade the tripmeter for a speedometer, then use the original mounting location and hardware to run it would that work? I never had a trike with any type of meter on it, so this may seem like a dumb question to some.
I won't be home to check it out and get a good look at it until the end of the month, so pardon the bad cellphone pics I was sent. :beer Thanks!

a speedo should work fine with the trip meter cable

Wow, never seen a tripmeter only unit like that. Dang neat!

I would assume also that its a simple swap. I just sold my last two Speedos or i would make an offer to sell you one! LOL

I was thinking it would just swap over too. I'm not 100% sure it works just yet, will have to test that when I get home. They have NOS tripmeters on ebay for around $150. Didn't see any used ones listed, so couldnt get estimate a value on it. I may just leave it as it is too.
