Hey guys,
Rebuilt the wifes 200s and now im having problems.
Carb is CLEAN! been through more times than I care to count. All jets are clean and free of debris.
The problem-
It wont hold a idle, unless its all the way in and its revving to the moon, as soon as I touch it to bring it back down it dies. I have sprayed either all around looking for a airleak and no changes.
I have messed with the jets and air screw to no luck.
EDIT- when you really rev it up it takes awhile to drop back down from the revs, like a 2 seconds till it starts to come down
It has great spark and getting plenty of fuel.
Is this a electrical problem? it has a 200s carb with a standard hardtail throttle assembly. The slide is going all the way up and down. Choke is working as it should.
Any ideas? I cant seem to get this thing tuned in correctly, It will hold rpm no problem all the way through the range if I manual do it via the thumb throttle.

I had these same symptoms with my atc200. Did you check the throttle needle clip position? Mine was in the wrong position and causing these same problems.
Hope it Helps.

Couldn't hurt to double check the spark advance..spark timing could be playing hell with you.
Check the pickup adjustment and the spring load on the centrifugal weights. Maybe while you are at it pop the chain cap and double that your chain is spot on..
How is it to ride?? Is the power on accel ok?
I've had a couple myself that even after opening and cleaning just didn't run right...If all else fails buy an ebay carb and swap it out..

Hello
Nice jump photo!
It is not likely electrical.
When did it last run?
How did it run when last parked?
Did you change or do ANYTHING to it since you
You rebuilt the entire motor?
Is it rideable and how does it run OTHER than at idle?
Does it have all NEW gas or is gas recent [less than 1 year] ?
Was it running prior to rebuild and if so did it isle ok then?
Did you change anything since it last ran like jets, carb, bigger can, exhaust pipe etc?
I might check ign timing and valves again, too tight is bad too loose it will still run and idle.

NO idea, no change, hmmm what could this be!! talk about frustrating! its very odd. Never seen this before. It will hold a idle somewhat, with the screw turned all the way in. Then when I nail the throttle it will "take " to the all the way in idle and rev to the moon and stay there,
I then turn it back out and it dies.

Fresh gas, sat in buddys golf course for god knows how many years. It is rideable
Idling somewhat when we bought it pre tear down.
I replaced timing chain and piston. All we did when motor was down was clean the carb.
Its gotta be a airleak but where?

Hello
Your reply sounds like you might have missed Dougspcs's post and mine. I'm just reposting so you might see on the main forum page that you have other new replies.

Well I swapped carbs to another PD model I had. Returns to idle quick, acts like it should. So there is something with this carb!
The new carb acts great but wont carry a idle to save its life. The saga continues!

Get a new carb off ebay, problem solved :). Last one I got was $27 shipped. . The actual body/slide wears away after 20+ years. No fix to them .

Hello
Well, how did the other bike run with that carb?
When was that bike last run?
Clean this carb out too especially pilot jet circuit. If it still doesn't idle check thongs suggested.
You said it's rideable but does it run GOOD, FAST, STRONG or just barely?
Does it run better with this carb while you are actually riding it or are you just sitting on it and opening the throttle?
