I am going to redo my gas tank and was wondering if anyone knows about the paint. I have a buddy that owns a body shop that mixes his own paint, but was the Shasta White also a paint color on Honda Cars or was it strictly wheelers? What color has anyone else used on a tank resto?

I know MR ATC told me that the 85 and the 86 whites were different. Guess the 85's was more an off white and 86 was a brighter white. I know the parts manual says 'Shasta" white for 86. Don't know anymore than that. Sorry.

Hi there Mike from Vintage Motorsports here, Here is the Dupont paint code for the shasta white on the 350X tank # W8430K thats the chromabase number . its a perfect match I had my supplier scan an NOS tank , and I have painted a dozen or so tanks with this color its a perfect match. good luck

What about painting a plastic tank? What needs to be done to keep the paint from bubbling due to the gas fumes?

I would stay away from painting any plastic tank, plastic is tricky enough to do on fenders, shrouds etc, but fuel tanks always (breath) vapors through them you would not be happy with the results

Actually.... I've tried to call MR ATC a few times lately to try to meet up in my travels to Binghamton and haven't crossed paths. I last spoke with him the week before thanksgiving but haven't heard from him since..
