Just installed a CT racing sectional pipe on my 85R, problem is the top section of the pipe is right against the bottom of the fuel tank. Any one else had an issue like this, any easy fix, besides beating it flat with a hammer...

i havetn heard about them sitting that hi before. Is there a chance you dont have the head pipe lined up right? dumb question but has to be asked! Have you tried clocking it counterclockwise to pull it away from the tank? or will the silencer and mounts even line up if you do that?

None of my pipes are that close, double check the mounting of everything. Maybe the pipes a bit tweaked? There should be an inch or more of space between them. How about a few pics so we can better assess

The CT pipe sits close to the tank, you should have at least 1" or more Clearance.

Post up some close up pictures.

I think I maybe had a 1/2 inch at the top with mine maybe an inch at the bottom of the tank.. It was close
