I have a 82 250R that would love a +4 axle. Do you own this axle or is it one you were looking to get?

Great info. Noted in my lil book of secrets

I don't know why I didn't make the connection that it'd work, the carrier bearings are the same for 81-84 so makes some sense. Just thought the spline spacing for the disk flange was different. Wonder if an 82 axle would fit 81 as well. The spacing of splines on the 81 axle is different to accommodate the drum brake, but a spacer would take up the slack

If you would want to use the 82 250r axle in an 81 250r, you would either have to chop up the 81 swingarm or swap the whole 82 swingarm into the 81 frame. Then you would have to weld in the mounts to fit the 82 reservoir and the 82 master cylinder and such. Quite a bit of work.

Yes, agreed, but why exactly can't the 81 axle go into the 82 swinger? is it the spline spacing? Or a different spline pattern for the drum flange vs. the disk flange? I've got an 81 axle and an 82 swinger sittin at the shop. I'll be checking on this today for sh!ts n g!ggles

I think you could innerchange the 81-82 axles the aftermaket swingarms are made for both models the have disc and drum setups for both trikes. Im thinking of trying my 81 axle in my 85 250r.The outer race on the liquid r is the same size as the air r. When I got one of my 83 swingarms it had liquid r bearings and spacer in it.

You need 82 250r axle in 1st gen 200x. you need 83-84 250r axle in 86-87 200x. The ID of the bearings are different between the bikes. I run 82 250r axle in my 84 200x. Its a bolt on. I do not use the 250r sprocket set up. They are very large and expensive and limited sizes.
