According to this link on partzilla these models all have the same recoil. I use this website alot to look up part interchangeability. Look up a specific part for your machine, then click on that part # below the drawing and it will tell you all the machines that use that part.

I haven't looked at the numbers or drawings, but according to Fabio his 225 version has a hand operated decompression lever while my 200K has a cable incorperated into the recoil. Unless they just just plugged the hole betweem models I will guess there are at least two types for the 200's and I don't know if the bolt patterns are the same. Best get into the part numbers and take a good look.

The recoil from a ytm-200, ytm-200E, ytm-225dx, ytm-225Dr and yfm-225 will fit on any machine. The YTM-200 have the decrompression, but you don't have to use it.

The YTM 200 recoil has a much wider housing compared to the narrow 225. It will stick out a ways,I would say at least an inch more, and the side of your foot may touch it, but will work. The internals are different, so be sure to use the compete setup from one or the other. The main difference is that the 200 has a wider pulley, and housing, because of the decompression gear on the back side of the pulley. If you have a 225, you can just remove the decompression cable from the 200 recoil, as the 225 has the lever on the valve cover. I have tried to combine the two and this is what I have found. ----- Jon

Hmmmmm.... always switched them between my 225DX and 200ERN without noticing any differences.

Does a 225dx recoil fit a 225 moto-4? The partzilla link above doesn't list it. Trying to confirm before I buy....

I'm sipping a late morning coffee here and looking at a parts fiche for a 1986 225 moto-4 and I don't see any recoil, just an e-start. Do you have a moto-4 with a pull starter on it?

if i remember correctly the moto 4 didnt have a recoil but it did have a cover there instead.also i switch over to a timberwolf/beartracker recoil as a parts for them are cheaper.

As far as I know the timberwolf never had a recoil stater. I swapped a 93 timberwolf engine and swingarm into my 84 dx225 last year and while looking for parts I never seen a recoil for a timberwolf. Now the beartracker I hve no exprience with.

Sweet. Maybe I can finally do a recoil back up on my wheeler. Not having one sucks.
