Yamaha YT rips pull cord out of you hand help!

Hey guys this thing has me stumped. The rope broke in the rewind so we had to take it apart and on accident the spring flew out. We got it all back together but now when it tries to start it will tip it hard out of your hands. And it seems to take more pulls to get it started. Any ideas anyone?

Sounds like it is out of time. This is a common problem on 2 strokes that I have seen, and most of the time it is because the flywheel key is sheared. Take a look at the flywheel and see if you can see it, most likely you will have to pull it off to inspect the key.

Actually I found out the problem. We somehow put the rewind back together backwards so it was turning the engine over backwards. When it fired the engine turned the other way which yanked on the rewind. Brain fart haha
