Bought this neat track kit and rear axle off Big Schott last month. Works great in the snow! I fabbed up some fenders and I still have to install some type of rear shocks to control the pivoting. I'm thinking of snowmobile ski shocks or I'll fab something up with compression springs. With the chain drive gear reduction I can cruise in third with no problems. Not the fastest but everyone who's rode it giggles away. Watch for updated pics later on.

P.S. Yes I know I have to fix my seat cover; it's not square to the foam, get off my back:wondering

I LOVE IT! I plan on building one myself before next winter... I want a ski on the front as well...

I should have mentioned a ski is on the books for next year. With Spring...(?), around the corner I thought the tire would work better for now. Big Schott may have more track to sell to start with.

Very Awesome! How fast does it go? Handling?

I haven't clocked it but I'm thinking 10-15 mph? It actually turns better than with tires on because the weight is distributed better out back. Not what I expected.

Man I'd love to find a kit like that!

Too much fun ! I'll bet with a ski on the front, it will float over just about anything.

Awesome set up!! Got more info on this Bigg Schott guy or company?

Are the tracks one continuous track or do you fasten the ends together when you install them?

Are the "wheels" plastic?

I need more pics!! Can you get me a pic straight down the middle with the track off when you take it off for the summer?

Thanks coolpool, you just added another trike project to my list. I might have to see if I can make something like this to fit my 200S and 200X. :naughty:

I just realized I added one to many "g's" on "Big" in the original post, oops! Big Schott is a member on here and .org an he's from Minnesota. Here's a link to a thread about tracks on .org http://www.3wheeler.org/vb/showthread.php?49062-Were-do-I-find-tracks . He also sent me some pics via email that I can share if you send me your email in a PM. The wheels are plastic and the track is continuous rubber. The only markings I found on them are "NOMA Canadiana" Probably a large snowblower.

Those are awesome! I think he had said they were from a large snowblower. Did you make the trak covers? Looks nice just like that

Yes I made the track covers and plates to cover the fender holes. I'll be making pivot stabilizers this weekend (I hope).

Reviving an old thread. Finally scored a craftsman track blower today and looking for a proven approach or some install tips.

Not sure what I can contribute here as someone else did the actual work. I can get you detailed pics if needed. To be honest I've never installed these again since 2013.....wow, where did the time go? You will need to find an axle that will need to be modified slightly if I remember correctly. PM if you would rather go that route.

Please share the pics on here so others can get some ideas too. Curious how you designed the stabilizer bars.

I was under the impression on some other builds that you could adapt a set of stock hubs and not modify the axle. That is the route I was hoping to take, yet I have extra 70 axles....

I managed to dig the kit out and get a few more pics of the setup. There's one extra 1/4" hole drilled which drives the sprocket and a collar that threads onto the original stub that goes into the outer steady bearing. As for the stabilizers I never did get around to making them but gathered all the parts up. My thought was to bolt a plate between the frame and grab handle (both sides) with a threaded stub on it and put a threaded stub on the rear of the track at the idler shaft. Then I was going to make my own shock with equal sized springs inside light metal tubing and use two of those small tie rod things with the threads on one end a rotating ball with hole on the other. I included a concept drawing. The idea being the tracks can travel maybe 4" up or down.

For the record the complete setup is for sale as we speak. You pay what I paid ($200.00 US) plus you get the fenders and cover plates. Shipping is on your dime also. PM me if interested.
