Picked this up very early this morning; it's not perfect but it is a nice survivor. I haven't seen one of these since the mid-80s. This one is not all beat up...and it runs great. It was about 5 degrees this morning, and when I got to the guy's house it started on the first pull (the machine was dead cold). I got a good deal on it, and I'm very happy with the purchase.

Although I didn't own one BITD, 2 of my friends bought one each new in 1983. They beat the crap out of them, and the machines never quit. I occasionally would trade my motorcycle for one of their 3 wheelers and ride it. Sometimes I rode on the back. Brings back some good memories.

It runs really strong, has brand new tires on the back, plastics are all good, and it's very tight. Grab-bar is beat up, but that's ok. Here's some pics:

Cool, I got one of those back in the fall for a good price..not quite as clean as your's though.

It'll be my next project, or maybe the one after my next..I have the same problem as Scooter does unfortunately!!

Anyway, nice find! Your 250ES isn't too shabby either..

That has to be the nicest all original one I've seen in a long time. Any story behind it from the previous owner?

He bought it in a bulk buy from a guy that had to sell a bunch of his stuff off to pay bills. That guy was not the original owner, though. Story basically ends there.

The sticker above the tail light is still there, it originally came from Yamaha of Rochester, MN 35 miles west of me. I picked the machine up 45 miles east of me.

Thanks. It's not as nice as yours doug (love those wheels you put on yours). My Big Red looks better in pictures than in person, but it's a decent trike. It's missing some parts, but overall it runs strong and doesn't smoke. I have a lot of work to do on it, but it will be fun and I'm looking forward to it. Here's a better pic of it:

Oh yeah, you're right it's not there. I misunderstood that he was asking about the rear rack :p
