There is a stock HONDA one, just like on my 350X. It has a gearbox that mounts on the front axle, just inside the fork. There are 2 or 3 varieties, depending upon the front tire size for calibration. I recently saw some go on eBay, but were a tripometer setup. Only went for about $50, but then you can buy the speedometer from Honda still. The $50 would have gotten you the hard-to-find /discontinued I'm sure part of the gearbox for the front axle.

Ummm.... you can still get the actual speedo itself I believe. I saw a part number on one in an auction and ran it through ServiceHonda, came up as Speedometer,ATV and said something like $45-$55. (Obviously, it will NOT say ATC on it.) The gearbox mounting kit is the piece that is hard to find. I ran the part number off my 350X kit, and it came up as a gearbox kit for a TRX350 or TRX300 (I forget). I saw one of those on eBay.... speedo and mounting kit together for a buy-it-now of cheap and bought that. It was Canadian, so the speedo is KM, but the gearbox wasn't correct to hook up on my 350X. My sister and brother-in-law have TRX-250 4x4 and TRX300 2wd but it wouldn't go on theirs either. (there's are late 90's this one is for late 80's) I still have that kit. Figure I can keep the head unit as a spare if I do something stupid like crash my X hard!!!!

I have my gear box kit and every thing. But I hate this speedo. I think its a POS and gets in my way. I want to get the right one on again. But I don't wanna pay 50$ for it.

yes ,,, you can put a pedle bike one on your bigred matt.
i had one on my 350x for awhile untill i got a original atc unit.
the hard part is getting the magnet to stay on the rim. i ended up using a epoxy glue and it stayed in place. i went thru a bunch of magnets from the hardware untill i got it figured out.
i left the handle bar part on so i would have a niffty digital clock .
