Soim talking to a guy on an atc 70. Hes looking foe $400 which im not willing to pay but heres what it is. He claims it needs new points so it dosent run. He says when he last ran it all he needed to do was sand the points and it would run. If it was the points howmuch would it be to get it going again? But if itsw any part on the starter would it be a big hastle and expensive to get into replacing any other parts? Heres what the add says.

"1985 ATC 70 4 speed up shift. Last year of the 70. Very nice and complete ATC. Only thing somebody recovered the seat, but its not bad. I think its due for new points as last year the longer it sat between rides I would sometimes have to take off the pullstart cover and try to sand the points to get it to spark and run. But believe me when I say this ATC will run excellent, no smoke, shifts clean and is suprisingly fast for a stock 70. Was typically a 1 pull and running machine until the points started to go on it. But its a cheap fix. I dont have to sell it but I have too many toys and can never get around to keeping up on them all or riding them. Time to thin the heard a bit if I can. Its in my storage unit so dont bug me if you have no intention of looking at it becuase Id have to go dig it out."

nice looking trike = but it seems that if all it needed was to sand the points he would do it to prove it ran....just my .02 $

Points, condensor, little felt rub/lube block all total under $20.

Flywheel puller $15:

Easy to do but setting the timing takes some patience and practice.

Looks pretty nice except the seat recover mashed the foam too much.

However, I'm a cynical type and, if it really is an easy fix, why doesn't the seller fix it? Running is always easier to sell than not running - especially when asking a running price.

I never understand why people are selling non functional bike, but they state they only need point or carb cleaning. Why don't they take the time to repair it and ask 200$ more... It is probably because they already messed it up.

Tell him you will give him the $400, but want to hear it run and test drive it first. If he doesnt want to do that, then tell him $200-$250.

Well, when I'm feeling positive towards humanity it's because they just don't have teh skill/time/experience/friends to do the job and don't want to pay a shop 2 hours @ $90 per.

But, when I'm feeling like people suck it's because "needs carb cleaned" = burned hole in piston or dropped a valve or clutch is bad, etc.

And, I hate to say it, but a LOT of people suck.

how true = people will say anything just to unload a good running " project "

If the guy is smart enough to say it needs points, then he's talented enough to change them/file them/fix it. He's full of crap, or just plain lazy. I wouldn't buy that thing for $400

$400 for a last year is not bad. I have 2 now. One is for sale.
