the cylinder on the '86 KX250 is the same as the '86Tecate, but are the sleeves? i have an extra cylinder for my '86 Tecate and i want to put a big bore in it, but i can't find any big bore parts for the Tecate only KX250. thanks everyone

the kx cylinder has totally different porting and I believe has boost ports, 2 extra ports to the exhaust and bridges on the intake and exhaust. I know you can use a kx250 cylinder. I don't think a kx sleeve and kxt cylinder will work.

totaly wrong.

that info would be correct for the 83-84 kx vs the 84 and 85 kxt.

but

the 86 & 87 kxt is identical to the 85 & 86 kx

Like Basket said in not so many words! :D :

1st Generation 84/85 KXT 250 A1 & A2 Tecates have visually the same engine as a 1983/84 KX250. The motors will swap from frame to frame. The KXT engine has different porting than the KX. These engines stock did not have sleeves. They are both aluminum cylinders with electro-fusion coated bores. Some other non-visible differences between the two are different carbs and different stator/flywheels. I would figure replacement iron sleeves for the 84/85 KXT 250 Tecate would be different than the 83/84 KX 250. If you get a sleeve for these motors you will have to bore the aluminum cylinder out to fit the new sleeve.

2nd Generation 86/87 KXT 250 B1 & B2 Tecates have the same cylinder and same porting as the 85/86 KX 250. But 86/87 KXTS share very little with the 84/85 KXT. But they do have the electrofusion bore. An Iron sleeve would be the same for 86/87 KXT as 85/86 KX.
