Yes, I'm bringing this subject up again. There seemed to be alot of interest on this board for the contest. Winter is pretty much over, there should be some nice restores. Whats it going to takr to get the ball rolling. We had a lot of good responses from members on this board we just need someone to get it started. Help us out Howdy 8).... We could have different classes for sport trikes 200X, 350X, 250cc 2 stroke class and also also a class for utility trikes and maybe even best over all trike.

Yeah. I agree with the stale part....

As far as the contest, you could have a stock class and a modded. I have mine all prettied up and mostly stock and now i've been wanting to tear it down and do something with the color scheme. My wife will kill me if I start seriously considering it. :-D

Good idea. I think we should also only allow recent pics, Not old ones from like 1 or 2 years ago and make it a members only contest. Come on guys lets band together an make this happen.

There should also be judges appointed. We dont need too many youngsters voting for machines with TONS of "racing stickers" covering up the bikes flaws. besides, flashy shite is OUT these days.
I volunteer to be a judge. My critera for judging would be
1.Tastefulness of the build
2.True to its roots or Custom-cant be both IMO
3.Quality of workmanship/interesting features

Great idea!
You could have an area where people post pic 's and descriptions for different models and classes,
-allow say two weeks for all the posts, and then start a poll for each category. It may be hard to judge from just pictures but still sounds fun.
( too bad everyone cant get together and compete... maybe someday the trikefest will grow int a national rally like Sturgis )

I think this would be a great idea. I should be having a resto on the board soon for 350x. Just recieved some parts today which include two 18 inch Kenda Scorpion tires, Carlise Trail Hawk front tire, K-N Air filter w/ outerwears and some Belray Thumper 4 stroke Racing oil. O Yeah also picked up an awesome old school number plate. Should look awesome when it's finished. I think ive decided on the color scheme, Bright blue powdercoated frame and swinger, all black wheels and white tank, fenders and shrouds. :-D

There should be just a 250cc class, to see which brand of trike would have bragging rights, it all depends on the rider. I should have an 86 350x soon that I am going to give a make over, and I got some crazy ideas for it, so stay tuned!

Awesome Plate Virgil! Great Score. I have two different green ones, a red one (thanks again, skippy), and the yellow one on my Z. I have none with a black screen though. all mine have white screens. I have no maier's mine are all UFO. The cool thing about z plate is that it has a tab on top for mounting the over-heat light! :-D

I do have a couple white old school preston petty numbers left for those screen plates. I have a "0" and a "5" left.

TRUE, I forgot the Kaw. But, that is the reason we need judges, because all KXT's look the same. And, they are pretty wicked looking. I think the judging should be on originality, design (by owner) cool rare parts, condition and upkeep. Overall desirability from an historic standpoint. anyone can go buy a clean original anything if they have the loot. That doesnt deserve recognition in my opinion. bloody knuckes and relentless searching for parts does, I think.

lol, I doubt Holic is thinking that way. Yea, He has a lot of Unique ( sp? ) machines. But looking at the catagories he listed, there is many that I am sure the Tiger couldn't win. ;)

Another idea for a picture contest: If we had one for STOCK or Restored machines only we could take the best of each model and year and put the picture of that machine on the Spex pages with the Factory Specifications. This would not only give those owners a chance to have their pictures Posted and it would also help out the Spex pages.
Any other input here?


I agree we would need to have some good impartial Judges.

Have different classes like a 350X, 250R, 200X and some for Utility trikes also and possibly even an over all trike winner. Just a few ideas to help get alittle more activity going on the board ( seems to have been alittle stale lately) and also get to see a lot of nice trikes in the process.

I think there should be a panel of judges, but with one stipulation. The Judges cant enter a machine. I also think the machines should be posted by someone else then the owners, and unless you allready know who owns it.. the pic and machine will kinda be anynonamous. That way it keeps it fair.(friends aint voting for friends just to stay butt buddies... no one knows who voted for who)

I think that everyone on 3ww.com and visitors should get 1 vote for each class, in an online poll type fashion.Also there should be notices to enter and a deadline to enter and vote. Just my 2 cents

Sounds good to me Airmancam. No one with entries should be able to judge and NO OLD PICS. I think only recent pics of trikes should be able to enter in -other- words like 2 plus year old pics dont count.

Anyways...how many judges are we gunna have? 5? 10?

How many trikes can 1 person enter into each category? (I dont think we want 1 person entering 5 350X's into the stock 350X category)

We should also start a new thred so you can post pics of your trike. Make two sticky threds titled "Stock" and "Modified".
Then, each contestent could post their trikes and add information about it if its modded. (Just pics....no one posts just to say you have a nice trike...it will keep things simple) Let these run for a week or two so everyone has a chance to enter. After that...post a new thred with a Poll to vote on who has the best trike in each category.

Example:

Poll on who has the best stock '86-'87 200X...
" " " " " " Modified '86-'87 200X and etc..etc....

I would love to see this happen, it would make things interesting and I think alot of us would like to see a lot of new trikes and restores after this winter etc. etc. etc. Lets see what we can do to make this happen.
