83 185s Countershaft Seal

Ok so ive done a search and looked in the service manual but its still a grey area to me. Do you have to split the cases to replace the seal or can you replace it with the countershaft still in and case halves still together? :wondering

No you don't have to split the cases . I use several methods but a 2" or so drywall screw and something to pry the seal out (claw hammer , visegrips ) works best . Screw into the meat of the seal very carefully and pull it out , most come out pretty easy .

Thanks shortline10 I got it out with a flat head pretty easy. I just needed to know if there was any need to split the cases.
