86 200x rear shock???

is the rear suspension servicable on the 2nd gen x's?? if it is can it be done at home or do I need to send it out??? My son's x seems to be saggy in the back.....Thanks....Paul

There are some special tools needed and a lot of know how. If the seal on the shaft is not leaking, it may just need an oil change, and nitrogen re-charge. I would expect a shop that will work on shocks to charge around 40 dollars for this service, and they will have all the right equipment to do it right.

well talked to two different shops today and they say unservicable must replace.....so can it not be serviced?? or do I need to find a better shop???....Thanks

If the shaft is not bent or pitted it can be rebuilt. I had mine rebuilt last year by Shock Therapy out of Michigan. Here's a link http://www.shocktherapyracing.com/atvs.htm

There blowing smoke up your arse; 100% serviceable. 2nd gen 200X's work great with 175lb rider. So I only ride it when I'm not fat :lol:

There is another guy in Illinois that rebuilt my 200x shock. His name ia Andy Maul and he is owner of maultechatv. Take a look at his website online if nothing else pans out for you. These shocks are 100% re-buildable.
