been a while but yeah 5 years later and im still here! any who just got a new "trike" and im about as excited as rosie odonnell at a free buffet in a topless bar! someone at some time decided their tt500 needed anextra wheel so they constructed what i call "the death machine*. its a 77 or 79 tt500 with an atc trail arm and monoshock attached. this thumper doesn't rip it annihilates! I already took out my buddies banshee and his 250 r drag trike as well as a cr500. the bike has a larger kei hin carb and valves as well as a custom ground cam. i picked it up for 150 at a sale.the low end is gnarly and it gets to 60 without hesitation.it also has an after market pipe on it.not sure what brand but by looks i would guess its an older fmf. it doesn't look like much and is a bare bones trike.what i need to know is some basic info that i cant find. how many quarts of oil does it hold and what weight should be used ? iknow these are simple questions but they are the only ones the yamaha guy couldn't answer

Those old 500's rip. My first bike was a 76 tt500. Im thinking it was around two qts. Make sure to change the oil filters. Ill dig around and see if i still have the manual for it. Funny you mentioned Death Machine. My friends called mine a death trap and wouldnt dare ride it. Have you had the dreaded back-kick while trying to start it?

You must have raced the slowest CR500, drag 250R and Banshee in existence.

Yeah, I'll have to agree with that. I owned an 84 TT600 which was my favorite bike I ever owned, but it was no rocket ship. I currently own an 82 XL500R and a 350X would probably give it a run for it's money until it ran out of gear.

A friend of mine in the 84 turned a tt500 into a trike using tecate front end and tecate swinger axle ect. It was a gas at the dunes. I never ride it on the track, only in the sand. It was fast, probably because of the paddles and all that torque :)

Like i said it is not much to look at but its got it where it counts. I do want to change the seat and the front fender as well as make some rear fenders.all in for 150 bucks i cant complain. The cam is a web cam 440 272 according to the card. I would also like to put a taller tire in the rear to help with balance and the bike consistently wanting to pull to front tire up.
