i bought a 1985 250r 4 weeks ago i removed the engine and started cleaning all the grease and dirt off it and found the name Paul turner written not printed on the head. on the cyl large letters P.D.Q. if anyone knows the names. let me know. it could be the old owner marking his parts for identify purposes.

I had questions about PT ported cylinder, so I email duncan racing. They had all kinds of info about it. I won it ebay and it was in france. It was originaly done for a guy from scotland.

im building a rider 1986 250r the motor runs but i have one idea how many hrs are on it. came off a 1985 parts bike i have seen it run for 20sec. i do not want to risk it blowing first ride and damaging the engine. i have never touched a 250r before. the biggest bike i drive is a 250es. the r should be quicker. i'm going to open up the motor and see what's inside.

;) PDQ was a chain of high performance engine shops located in so. Ca. in the early 80's. They were on just about every street corner, kind of like Walgreens today. They specialized in the one-hour port & polish, similar to the eyeglasses in about an hour concept, thus the name PDQ, Porting Done Quickly. For some reason, their business never took off. :wondering It looks like they had at least one customer though.

So, would what he has then be a PT reworked head and a PDQ "ported" cylinder Red Rider??

So, would what he has then be a PT reworked head and a PDQ "ported" cylinder Red Rider??That's what I'd guess. I believe they're mix & match parts from 2 separate performance shops. I know nothing about PDQ. My previous post was total BS for fun & games, thus the excessive use of emoticons.

good times. the piston looks good/new but seems loose to me. cyl needs work. some light scoring i see. reads 66 mill at top whats the recommended next size to go.

you buy the piston that way?In the past, I have had a few Wiseco CR250R pistons that came pre-drilled, but lately they haven't been pre-drilled, and you have to do them yourself. So, why drill holes in your brand new piston? Well, with Wiseco pistons, if your cylinder has an exhaust bridge, as 250R's do, Wiseco recommends drilling holes in the exhaust side, in line with the exhaust bridge. This allows the fuel/air charge to pass through the holes from the underside of the piston and lubricate the bridge. I drill all of my Wiseco 250R pistons as per their instructions.

It looks like someone did a good job on the port work.
