Hey Guys, I have ben seraching the site but cant seem to find a step by step process of removing the axle/front wheel of my Tri Z:wondering. I can only find 1 pinch bolt located on the right fork just above what appears used to be the bolt head of the axle. Somebody round it off so bad it is hard to tell it is even a bolt. But on the left fork I cant find anything (as far as a pinch bolt) or a nut for the axle bolt. I will take some pics tonight and try to post it up but figured the process was relitively simple. Read in a few post were guys had to weld a good bolt head on the axle and remove that way. Also the allen/hex hole on the picnh bolt is stripped. I can get that out with an easyout I am sure, but didnt want to make more of a mess than necassary or break anything important. Any help/tips you guys can give me I would be very greatful. Not too woried about the old axle as I am buying SS replacment form another member on here.

Remove the one allen bolt that is a pinch bolt then on the same size the axle should have a hex head on it. I wanna say a 18mm i think. Take it lose and the axle should slide out!

Ok, so I will get the pinch bolt out tonight with an easy out. Like I said the Hex head on the axle (same side as pinch bolt) is no longer Hexagon, almost round now, lol. I think I may try to get it with a pipe wrench and if no luck probably end up welding something on there I can get a socket on.
Has anybody aver had any luck getting a nut/or bolt loose with those gatorgrip sockets?
Any other suggestions on how to remove the the axle being as the head is rounded off?

I have a gator grip and it works, but mine only goes to 3/4 so you probably aren't going to gain an advantage, so if you don't have one, I wouldn't go buy one.

Thanks nstyle73 I dont have one just seen it at store when i was buying some easyouts. Didnt figure it would work out so didnt mess with it. Thanks for your input though may have to get one for the future.

I used a pipe wrench on mine, it came out easy. I think the get rounded from people trying to take out the axle without loosening the pinch bolt.

or just slide the forks out and then slide the one fork off and then you can get to the axle very easy and not trailprotrailprotrailprotrailpro the fork leg up.

Sweet I will try that at first. Keeping my finger crossed it works.

When you say slide the forks out do you mean take them off the bike with whel/axle still attached? So just unbolt the tripples and remove? Which fork do I slide off to get to the axle? I have read a few other posts that said you can leave the axle intack and just slide the wheel/tire off once you relase it from the pich bolt side, but those were all hondas, which seem to have a 4 bolt pinch? Sorry I am new at this so bear with I will get it

New, do yourself a big favor and get yourself a shop manual for the tri z. It will help you out tons in the long run. I think you can download one off line for free.
