i think you will mess the engine up if you run it lean.

Leaner is quicker, but hotter and is bad for the engine.

If you lean it out you will get more performance but it will be short lived.very short lived. It is better to run on the rich side.

rich and lean have nothing to do with speed!!!!!! they are a condition of engine operation,,, an engine that will turn 8500 rpm's will do it running rich or lean,,, so there would be NO SPEED advantage,,,,

Jetting for speed is stupid. If you have lot's of money to rebuild top ends frequently, run lean. You'll get more performance but IMO it just ain't worth it. I like to run my stuff a hair on the rich side to be safe.

Rich or lean would be determined by combustion chamber temp. High temp=more power(hotter explosion). This uses up parts more quickly. Like others said you can't have both. Use jets that provide the correct balance between higher power and engine longevity. Proper tuning of air/fuel mix is usually not easily attainable, it takes much trial and error. Just my.02

Depends on what kind of oil. Some oils run at 20:1, some at 32:1, and synthetics at 50:1 or even leaner.
