i bought a donor tike has built motor but stock gears were gone.
i picked up 1990 xr200r 6spd trans and installed it gears,shafts,forks,drum
i used 200x kicker shaft due to rear kick on the xr
bottom end is all together but i can find 1st net 2nd 3rd but no 4th 5th 6th when bench testing it.
i tore it apart again and re checked it by the book its correct
200x drum and forks wont work with the 6spd stuff
im stumped. please help

the 1st-3rd are 1 shift fork and 4-6 is the other fork. i i get the feeling the drum is not working properly, or the fork is not properly connected. but that's my guess.

when case is off and gears in they line up as they should and you can shift thru the gears by wiggiling the drum
3wheelr.org is down i have a thread on there but there sayin use xr guts and x kickershaft and its done

Something must not be lined up or a washer has been miss placed. It took me a few tries to get the 6speed in there right when i did the swap.

^^ there should be more then two in total. I have a 200x tranny out of the case right now I will double check tomorrow to see whats spot to be there.I do remember that they had the same amount as the xr's.

well the drum should not have a washer on both sides. maybe the gearing is binding. if your using the 200x centers i think the gearing is longer on the xr (shaft wise) and that could be binding when you bolt the case together. I had this problem on the current "moster mini" i am building. I ended up not using a washer on 1 side and that fixed the issue. so something to try.

If I'm correct,I remember for now 12-14 years I swaped my 200x gear in a xl200 case cause my case was damaged. The mold was different near the kick start gear in the left crankcase.I grind the casting and everything was ok.Maybe......

Did you swap the 200x gear on the kickstarter shaft for the XR gear? See pic: 162089
If you didn't it wont mesh with the gear on the tranny shaft that makes the engine turn and might bind the tranny. Or you could swap both gear on the tranny shafts that are used to turn the engine. Top gears on both shaft in the picture. 162088
Otherwise, its a direct swap with all the XR gears, drum, forks, etc.
Hope this helps!
