I just acquired Tim Baird's racing 200X. During it's racing tenor, which included a second place in the 1984 Parker 400, the motor was sent to Team Honda for modifications. Tim and I have yet to meet on the details of the motor build and suspension. It's a full tilt Sparks built motor. Obviously from just looking at it with the head off, it's got some serious port work, titanium retainers and possibly springs. A very nice Coffman pipe snakes cleanly through the frame. The suspension is loaded as well. The swing arm is a plus 4 as far as I can tell. The axles are wider but unsure of the brand. White Brothers shock is in the rear. Tim and the machine was featured in Three Wheeling Magazine. When Tim and I meet, I will get more details. My camera battery died before I could show the detail work that is involved in a top flight racing effort. The tricks and attention to detail are amazing. I'll load more pictures later.

Greetings neighbor, ask Tim if he still has his Tiger 500. I used to race local with him in the 80's. I work out of a shop on the west side. PM me if you need any thing, always willing to help out a fellow triker.

Need to repop those tank shrouds. Very cool trike. If you post close ups of the axle and swinger I can most likely identify them

Sorry guys....Between a death in the family (uncle), a broken water line between my house and the meter and some uncharacteristic heavy snow fall, I haven't been able to take any pictures. I will for sure get them this weekend. Hurricane 635....I will for sure ask the original owner, Tim, about the Tiger. I bet there are some great stories. It has been rumored that he never cashed his Parker 400 second place check. I want a picture of that! That would be really cool to see and to post here. Most of us would love to see that sort of memorabilia.

At what point did the trike get the pink accents and the old school pinstriping. I fourth the more pics idea.

No worries. I'm getting pictures of every angle that I can. I'll post them this weekend. I talked with my buddy, Bradness Badness, about doing a video to post on YouTube. Brad was the second owner and last person to ride it. I haven't had the opportunity yet. There is a monstrous sand hill just south of Albuquerque called the Big Dig. Brad says the trike makes it up the hill at a standing start from the very bottom...with bald tires. That's pretty damn impressive. The last time I owned a machine that could do that, it was a Honda CR450. None of my trikes could do that including my Honda ATC 250R. All my machines were factory stock. The list included an '86 200X, an '84 Tecate and the 250R. So I need to locate some race fuel to feed the 12.5:1 motor and see what this beast will do.

Here are some of the custom details. Members might pick out details that I missed. Custom fiberglass oil cooler covering the custom oil cooler. Custom steering stabilizer assembly with nifty cylinder head mount. Fabbed skid plate for the rear sprocket and motor skid plate. Looks to be a plus 2 or 3 inch swing arm with a White Brothers shock. K&N filter mounted to a much larger carb of unknown specifications as of this posting. Coffman exhaust.

Do you have any idea of what goodies are inside the engine?

Since it was fashioned from fiberglass, it's really just a press fit. You push it onto the oil cooler and the cover expands just enough to fit without coming off.

When I talk to the original owner, I'll get that information. Stay tuned...

I have a dumb question but why is the bike pink? I know in the mid 80's it was cool to have pink accents on BMX bikes but ATC's. I love the WAX on seat rarely see those on 200x's

You nailed it. Hot pink was the color of the time. Probably painted after it's racing days were over because the paint is hardly scratched. Meeting with the owner sometime this month (Jan.) and will ask.
