I killed my headlight glass and entire shroud housing when I ran into someone backing their dune buggy up around a corner blocking the entire trail during our Baldwin ride in Michigan back in October. Not going to blame the 17 year old driving the buggy for doing something stupid, I have done dumb things once or twice before  I was able to walk away but destroyed my 1986 shroud and glass lens and cracked my front fender and some other small things.

I'm going to ghetto rig the housing back together until I can find my wallet to buy a decent used 86 housing. Love the one on eBay right now for 1000$ In the meantime, where can I find a new housing to fit the 86 shroud? The bulb is good and works but the thick glass on the front is busted half out. Are there any car headlight housings people use, I haven't had one out to see how it mounts. Thanks in advance!

No, the glass is unique. 86-87 250SX uses the same glass.

Also the only way to get a 86 shroud is to find a oem one. No one makes a aftermarket one its oem or none for 86. Now if your not dead set on the 86 you can get a 85 from maier since your gonna have to buy a glass anyways.

Ya i knew about there being no aftermarket shrouds for the 86, and im not a fan of the 85 or i would have probably already picked one up from maier. Right now im just shooting to replace the glass housing so i dont have a busted out headlight lense asking to cut someone lol

I will start looking for 86-87 sx glass housing as well. Just want to try and put it back together enough to be safe for this coming season

Jason,

If you are in a pinch and decide to settle on an '85 style setup, I have a shroud and lense I will give to you if you want it. Before you get too excited, the shroud is cracked but still useable and hangs on to the forks just fine. And the lense has a BB size hole in the front, and due to that is kind of dingy on the inside.

I would be keeping the mount straps as I still need them for my build in progress. But let me know if you are interested and I will take some pics and post em up for ya. They are yours if you want, just cover half the ride. Otherwise, I'll just keep em around in case I get into a pinch myself..... ;)

The 1986-87 ATC200X headlight assembley is the same as the 1986 ATC250R and the 86-87 ATC250SX as mentioned above, they all carry the same OEM part numbers.

I have a glass and bracket that would fit your 86R. The back of it has a little rust on it but glass is good. $29.00 shipped if you want it.

I don't make a practice out of ramming into people reversing down trails carelessly. That bike has seen hours and hours of seat time with me and this is the first time I have hit someone. Headlight guard wouldn't have changed anything in this situation. Anyways I don't like how they look ;)
