i got a dude on the hook for an 82 R. i know very little about them so i got a few questions before i go snatch this up and find out it wont work for me.

parts availability? anything and everything?

plastics, is it all available including tank if needed?

front fork swaps? i think 200x and maybe late air R? am i right?

aftermarket swingers? are they around? pricing on one need redone?

brakes? all this stuff available?

rear shocks? can these be had in good condition? would i have to buy brand new? if so, rough price?

seat? aftermarket available? can the stock seats be found usable?

cylinders? pricing on boreable used?

airfoolers.com? this place still goin?

i'm sure the info is here but i dont have time to dig it up. i know we gotta have a few air fooler lovers still kicking around so please help a brother out.

Parts are pretty available, mechanically speaking. Obviously some harder to find than others. Some parts from CRs and a few other machines are also interchangable.
Yes you can buy plastics, used and new, Maier. Tanks are a little harder.
Fork swaps and upgrades are pretty easy. Yes to the later Rs and Xs.

If you need stock parts, Manbearpig here on the forums is very helpful. Haven't seen any posts from him in awhile. Anyone know what he's up too?

Airfooler.com is another. All is available like the previous gents said. I did a complete restore on one not long ago an 84'. Steel tanks can be found I got one for about $70 bucks and painted it myself. It was slightly dented and I heated it with a heat gun and used a thick round bushing with a hole in the center to fill the tank with compressed air until the dents popped out. I tried to find an extended swingarm but I was not successful in findin one at a reasonable cost. Cylinders are easy to find on ebay. I recovered my own seat with a custom seat cover that was black and blue. It turned out nice. Pics are on the First/2nd Gen 250R group.

the air fooler site is still open & going strong....for some reason when you type in @irfooler on this site it converts the name to air cooled 250r... kinda like edog & r@ttlecan- (had to use the @ symbol instead of an a or the word gets changed)...back to the point, parts are just as easy to come as liquid r parts.. but considering I cant find a f@cking left side case for my 85 r under 150 bucks, i'd say the 1st & 2nd gen R parts are actually a bit cheeper to get....swingers & axles are a bit harder to come by and as such, are a bit more expensive..
