Normally I ride in lace up redwings (work boots), but I am getting ready to buy a set of alpinestars.

OK this is why I ask. I always wear lace up work boots. However my 14 year old son recieved a new pair of Thor's for his dirt bike because he out grew his size 10's, which fit me fine. We wen't out and rode today and I tried out his old boots to see if i would like them. They felt very stiff and hard to up shift on my 200x because the shifter is about 2" below the peg, unlike his bike which is about level. So liking the feel of the boot, I am having trouble up shifting. Just wondering if these other model boots are a bit more flexible and more ATC friendly.

Thanks, Rob

Hebo trials boots. Lighter and more flexable than traditional MX boots. You don't put your feet down anyway, right?

work boots. I tried on several pairs of riding boots on through the years and just dont like them. Riding boots are probably better protection but they feel too bulky and i cant move in them. Just my opinion.

Hey rob just move your shifter up a couple positions on the shaft.

I wear my one of my old pairs of Kevlar 12" tall steel toes work boots.

Workboots provide absolutely no ankle support whatsoever compared to a mx boot.
If you cant shift with a mx boot move your shifter up.
An ankle injury will haunt you thre rest of your life, it seems dumb not too.

I wear a pair of Fly Maverick MX boots. Stiff, but the ankle protection is worth it. I don't have any trouble up shifting, I just catch the end of the shifter with the lip on the boot. Works perfect every time.

I have a pair of short Alpinestars. I hardly ever wear them because they are uncomfortable. Last Thanksgiving I rolled my ankle while riding at night....Blew up the size of a softball... It still isn't right... Last time i ride without my boots..... Riding without boots is like riding without a helmet now for me....Bad idea.

Ouch, I have a pretty good shot of my biggest crash on my 200X from the go pro. I thi the tree and looked down at my foot jammed between the tire and the tree. It was cocked pretty good too. If I wasn't wearing my boots I'd be in a cast right now still.

There's no wrap under the sock..... Most of that would have been prevented with boots.

OUCH!!!!! Yeah my son had a friend riding with us last month. Great kid but a little light on the experence with a dirt bike. He went over a small jump and landed in some soft dirt, in his excitment he nailed the front brake and went over. He was wearing a pair of Thor riding boots and excaped with a slight fracture on his big toe, Thank God for the BOOTS..... So with that said i am trying to lead by example and be more protective with the boys. Just seeing what works best ;)

LOL!!!

I like motocross boots, got a new pair before TF12

Fabio told me he liked Carolina boots. I found that the plain light leather boots have 200 grams of Thinsulate and the dark color had 800 grams so I bought those.

From 169$ after the coupons I had and being on sale I ended up paying 100$.

He also said to buy them a bit larger because if you can't wiggle your toes because thats when you get cold feet.

Makes sense to me :beer
