Accumulating parts for a 200X build with a 350X front fork set up. I'm gonna need fork boots. What's the next best boot after OEM? I have a hard time dropping 60.00 for a set of fork boots. If it was an all original resto, I would go OEM, but it's not so....
Daystar?

Will those also fit a 200x?
If not, is there an alternative to look for, to fit a 200x?

Well, the OEM Honda ones are long gone (for the 200x), and rarely, if ever, pop up on feebay, so that option is out of the question anyway....

They must be making or found some; They were DC'd a long while ago.
BTPAGE on EBAY sells a nice set that fits, comes with clamp and looks far better than Daystar.

Those were one of the options I was looking at, I think I'll give them a try.

I have the boots from btpage on my TR200, the ribs stick out pretty far and rub on the tire a little.
Btpage,

Proline covers. I feel these look much better. Obviously if you are bringing it back to factory spec, these will not do. But if you are looking for wallet friendly protection, they are perfect. And they look a bit sportier IMO

Not to sidetrack, but is it better to have ripped boots
or none at all?
I always blow them out and lightly oil if they get wet.
Heard that 4 wheel drive shops have some boots
and dratv has some with all measurements but not sure what they fit.
How's THAT for useless info?

I would put covers on at the least. I'm not a fan of damaged seals

I bought mine from the 4WheelParts store in Austin. I think they were under $10 a set. They're shock boots. I used them on the 350X. On my 200X, I bought boots from BTPAGE. He was great to deal with. First order never showed - lost in the mail. Sent replacements no questions.

I know this thread is older but I am looking at getting a new set for my 85 350x. I know as you guys have stated, there are cheaper options. I am looking for the closest looking to the stock boot as possible.

me selling boots is non existant on this site not due to him pissing me off, plus I get more biz from ebay.

Go to "Zone off road" website and order their shock boots. They fit perfect on the 350x forks.

I know you sell them. I'm not looking for those I'm looking for close to oem.

I've never had any luck finding close to OEM. It is a lot of money for oems, but well worth it. Most aftermarket boots look terrible when compared to OEM's fit , look, and quality.
You'll be happy you spent the 65$ on OEM

I agree . I can't stand the way my 85 x looks with the poofy boots. You just can't beat the oem's.

ever since i found out the shock boots i bought for $23.50 were $3 skyjacker shock boots from summit, and fit like junk. i have been searching for real, proper fitting alternatives.
unfortunately most of the ebay options are expensive or from other countries.
I have found some decent options on the summit power sports website. powersportsplace.com I have not ordered or tried yet, but will inform when i do. Just use main search function for fork boots
for a stock look, it looks like the polisport boots are really close. they only come in black but they come in 2 fork tube sizes. However they do not list the lower end size.
They also offer Daystar MX boots. Similar look to the Skyjacker "poofy" boots but you can actually pick the upper and lower boot diameter for a perfect fit. When you search, on the left there are prompts to narrow your results. one field is boot diameter.
If you need a "stock" look with color, most of what i can find (reasonably priced, not $60-80) is coming out of Thailand. i Have only found 1 seller that lists sizes, repro_ttandfriend, auction #321300213176. i have compared that boot size to some boots i have and it is extremely close. i have been thinking of emailing some cheaper sellers with a similar description, but have not got to it yet.
